That’s right. 4.3 inches. It has become a bit of an HTC trademark at this point, but it has been so successful that there is no reason to change a good thing, right? If a 4.3 inch screen sounds just too big, consider that its super slim design makes it comfortable in the hand and unnoticeable in the pocket. What more can you ask from a small computer that you can tote in your coat?
The HTC Desire HD runs on the Android 2.2 platform with amazingly fast speeds and very user-friendly navigation capabilities. The home screen and widget layout possibilities are endless as they are fully customisable and very fun to play with in the cab on the way into the city. The preloaded skins can really show off your personality, and editing everything from your ringtones to your widget displays is as simple as pinch and zoom in the settings screen, a very seamless design that is clearly laid out with simplicity of use in mind.
Web browsing is the bread and butter of the Desire HD. The big screen and high resolution makes for a great internet experience full of speed and colour. Multiple windows gives the user that tabbed browsing effect that has become so loved in mobile phones, and you can share any website on-the-go with the built-in share page that lets you send information via Facebook, Twitter, email, text, etc. A really handy feature to help keep your friends up to date on life’s happenings.
An 8 megapixel camera does the trick on stills, and, of course, an HD video camera looks beautiful on that screen. There are so many functions on the camera that it is mind-boggling, everything from a self-timer to ISO and white balance are there to play with. The video playback function is well set up with a slick looking library to display all of your videos.
All of your messaging can be set up in minutes on your pay monthly phone and will be pushed straight to the handset. Business and personal email, SMS, instant messaging, Twitter, Facebook, and most anything else can all be integrated on the Desire HD. And typing is a breeze with the incredibly responsive touch keyboard that can read your mind when you make mistakes. Well, can almost read your mind.
The HTC Desire HD really is a big step up from the already well done Desire. Thousands of apps are available from Droid and Google making customisation king on this handset. With an increased processing system and fast user platform, it is a bit mind-blowing that all of this power fits comfortably on that beautiful 4.3 inch screen.
